  • Georgia Pre-K Week: 10/02-10/06/2017 – Pre-K Week is a weeklong celebration of Georgia’s Pre-K Program and other quality early education programs in Georgia.  During this week, leaders from across the state get to experience first-hand the quality learning that takes place in classrooms across the state. Leaders visit pre-K classrooms, read books to students, and sometimes even participate in that day’s activities: Volunteer!
  • Operation Christmas Child: 10/05/2017- Millions of shoeboxes are collected during National Collection Week. Before these special gifts can bring hope and joy to children around the world, each one has to be carefully inspected and made ready for overseas shipment by volunteers. You can help prepare shoeboxes for delivery by volunteering at a processing center. About 80,000 volunteers serve annually at our 8 processing centers across the United States.   • WonderRoot Signs for Atlanta Pride Parade: 10/06 & 10/08/17 – Atlanta Pride, Clarkston Community Center, WonderRoot, New American Pathways, Latin American Association & Syrian artist Nabil Mousa have come together to march in solidarity with Atlanta’s refugee community. They are looking for help making signs and some folks to march in the Pride Parade with on October 15th. The goal is to connect the community with refugees to build relationships, understanding and compassion.   • Atlanta Grill Cheese Festival: 10/07/17 – The festival will be at Old Fourth Ward Park. Restaurants from all over Atlanta serve up bites of melty, cheesy, goodness. Buy a ticket to attend or sign up to help: Volunteer!
  • Park Pride’s workday on BeltLine Westside Trail: 10/07/2017 – Join Park Pride and the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership on the newly opened West Side Trail for a volunteer workday. This will be a great chance to get out on the new section of trail, do some great work and get an update from BeltLine staff about the progress of the BeltLine: Volunteer!
  • Hands on Atlanta Day: 10/07/2017 – Over 3,000 volunteers will be needed to serve more than 10,000 hours to uplift the Atlanta community around food insecurity, homelessness, youth development, education, family support & self-sufficiency, senior citizen support and community beautification: Volunteer!
  • Woodland Garden’s Fairies in the Garden: 10/07/2017 – Woodland Garden’s 7th annual Fairies in the Garden is this Saturday and they need extra hands to help! Fairies in the Garden is their biggest event of the year so consider coming by to help out with staffing a booth, parking coordination, arts & crafts, raffle, etc. They have many tasks and shifts available: Volunteer!
  • Service Saturday with Atlanta Greek Picnics: 10/07/2017 – Join Atlanta Greek Picnics in their first edition of Service Saturdays. The project will involve helping the Atlanta Community Food Bank: Volunteer!
  • Winship Win the Fight 5K: 10/14/2017 – This race is aimed at raising critical funds for cancer research, treatment and care at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. Participate or volunteer to help this great cause: Volunteer!
  • Community Bucket Weekend of Good: 10/14/2017 – Join Community Bucket for a morning of volunteering filled with urban gardens and beautiful parks. Projects are available with Concrete Jungle, Kittredge Park, Wylde Center and Urban Fresh (part of Historic Westside Gardens), all of which rely almost exclusively on volunteers to fulfill their missions. After a few hours of hard work, head to a nearby brewery to pay off your good deeds with some local beer and delicious food: Volunteer!
  • Chastain Horse Park Clean Up: 10/14/2017 – Help prepare Chastain Horse Park for their Fall Family Spectacular which benefits their Therapeutic Riding Programs. CHP empowers riders of all abilities through life-changing relationships with horses.   • CPACS TEA (Together Empowering All) Walk: 10/14/2017: This is a unique opportunity for Georgians to celebrate the rich diversity of our State and to walk in unity to celebrate that diversity.   • Atlanta Pride Festival: 10/14/2017 – Atlanta Pride is an organization dedicated to advance unity, visibility and self-esteem among lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender and queer persons and to promote a positive image in the Atlanta area and throughout the Southeastern United States through community activities and services.   • Westside Volunteer Corps October Day of Service: 10/14/2017 – Join the Volunteer Corps October 14th as they partner with the Atlanta Housing Authority (AHA) to present its final Return to Community Farmers Market and Fair of the season. The Market celebrates the Choice Neighborhood communities of Ashview Heights, Vine City and the Atlanta University Center and features locally-grown produce and handmade products sold by community-based growers and vendors.   • ATL Tech Gives Back 2.0: 10/19/2017 – Join Hypepotamus and Community Bucket for Tech Gives Back #2 on Thursday, October 19, 2017 and be part of something great. This is a quarterly service event for anyone who works (or aspires to work) in technology or at a startup, and who frankly gives a damn about helping to make this city better. This time, they have 3 projects to choose from in the afternoon, followed up with a happy hour at Monday Night Brewing for all the volunteers to celebrate their good deeds: Volunteer!
  • Gwinnett Great Days of Service: 10/20-10/21/2017 – Gwinnett Great Days of Service is one of the largest community volunteer events in the nation.  Since 2000, the community has gathered to create and support awareness for the Gwinnett Coalition for Health & Human Services and the many agencies and organizations the Coalition represents and supports.  Join community volunteers as they come together for an annual two day event to work side-by-side addressing specific needs and issues in the community. There are many projects to choose from, including but not limited to, landscaping, painting, food drives, etc. Consider participating as either a volunteer, sponsor, donor or partner in this year’s event!   • Camp Good Grief/Bravery: 10/21/2017- Camp Good Grief is for children ages 5-17 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The camp is a free one day camp. They are looking donations and volunteers to help out at this event: Volunteer! 
  • PNC 10 Atlanta Miler: 10/22/2017 – Piedmont Park Conservancy is teaming up with Atlanta Track Club to cheer on runners for PNC Atlanta 10 Miler. The Conservancy is looking for 30+ volunteers to join their charismatic cheer crew: Volunteer!
  • Back on My Feet Atlanta 10 Miler Cheer Zone: 10/22/2017- Volunteer are needed participate alongside  at a cheer zone during the Atlanta 10 Miler on October 22nd. The volunteer opportunity will be from 6:30 am until the end of the race, around 10:00 am. The cheer zone will have a theme—Ghostbusters!   • United Way’s Trunk-or-Treat & Fall Festival: 10/27/2017 – United Way will be at Miles Elementary School hosting a Fall festival and Trunk-or-Treat. They are looking for volunteers to make this classic event spectacular for all 500 kids. Volunteers can choose to participate in the Trunk-Or-Treat (Deck out your car, and let kids safely trick-or-treat for candy around open trunks) or to help run the festival stations (we will have face painting, games, and a pop-up grocery shop).   • Landscaping at the Habitat Office: 10/27/2017- Enjoy planting flowers?   • Black Tie Soccer Game: 10/29/2017- The Black Tie Soccer Game is Soccer in the Streets’ end-of-year gala with a twist.   • Atlanta Women’s Build: 09/30-11/18/2017 – The Atlanta Women’s Build (AWB) is a grassroots effort led by individual women who raise funds to sponsor and construct an Atlanta Habitat for Humanity home for a working mother and her family. Over eight weeks, women volunteers work side-by-side with the homebuyer to construct the house, offering a unique opportunity to highlight the ways that Atlanta Habitat empowers women and builds stability in communities.   • Drawchange 5K Run for Art, Run for Kids: 10/28/2017 – This  is Drawchange’s largest fundraiser of the year. 100% of proceeds support the organization’s programs with children in local Atlanta shelters. Join the fun and help support a great cause: Volunteer!
  • Our Cooler: Every Sunday afternoon, Our Cooler passes out free water on the Atlanta Beltline. They are looking for volunteers to help with this effort. There are no water fountains on the Beltline so most people are very grateful, making it a fun and easy volunteering experience. Volunteers need to enjoy or at least be amused by people.   • Angel Tree Sign Up: Along with the familiar Red Kettles, the Angel Tree program is one of The Salvation Army’s highest profile Christmas efforts. They need individuals to assist in their warehouse to sort through the gifts to make sure each child receives the gifts purchased specifically for them and to make sure every Angel has a bag filled with appropriate items. They also need volunteers to help distribute the gifts to the families at various Salvation Army facilities during the second and third week of December: Volunteer!
  • Shepherd Center: Shepherd Center is a private, not-for-profit hospital specializing in medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spine and chronic pain, and other neuromuscular conditions.   • Atlanta Habitat for Humanity Young Professionals: The Young Professionals group is a self-directed, professional-led organization that works cooperatively with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity through service, advocacy, fundraising and professional and leadership development.   • Samaritan’s Purse Hurricane Harvey Response Team: Samaritan’s Purse mobilizes staff and equipment and enlists thousands of volunteers to provide emergency aid to victims of tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters in the United States. They have disaster relief units, staff, and volunteers in Texas working from five locations, including two in the Houston area. Over the next weeks and months, there is a huge need for volunteers to help restore impacted areas in Texas. They need an army of volunteers—as many as 1,000 a day. Please join them: Volunteer!
  • Orlando Cares Hope for Puerto Rico: 10/06-10/07/2017 – Feeding Children Everywhere is packaging an urgent 4.4 million meals to help provide relief to those affected by hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. The meals will be shipping out immediately to be distributed by FEMA to those in desperate need. There an URGENT need for volunteers.   • The Big Thank You:  Over the past several years, The Bert Show community helped to express a BIG THANK YOU with over a million hand written letters of thanks to every serviceman and woman deployed outside the United States. This year, the goal is the same– to send a letter of gratitude to every single soldier deployed outside the United States on Thanksgiving Day. Drop off locations are available throughout the country.   • Dragon Con: 09/01-09/04/2017 –  Volunteer at one largest pop culture conventions in the world!  Everyone who signs up to volunteer by the first of August and is accepted into a department will receive a unique volunteer lanyard and t-shirt: Volunteer!
  • Kashi Atlanta Street Meals Program: 09/05/2017- Join Kashi from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Kashi Atlanta in Candler Park to make lunch for homeless men, women, and children in downtown Atlanta.  Volunteers will be doing food preparation, including chopping vegetables, and cooking to prepare a healthy, vegetarian meal to serve 100+ on Wednesday afternoon.  This is an opportunity to interact with positive people, intent on making a difference.  Kashi practices the yogic principles of nurturing, healing, compassion, inner growth, and community service: Volunteer!
  • MARTA Hackathon: 09/08-09/09/2017- the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will be hosting its 3rd MARTA Hackathon at The Garage.  The goal of the Hackathon is to attract creative minds in an effort to develop solutions that will in turn provide better transit services for MARTA riders. The participants will consist of approximately 300 coders, designers, and business developers of various ages and backgrounds.   •  Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk: 09/07/2017 – Volunteer at one of Atlanta’s largest corporate run/walk. The Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program is designed to promote health, wellness and fitness among metro Atlanta companies and their employees.   • Living Wall Conference: 09/08-09/17/2017 – The Living Walls Conference unites street artists and scholars from across the globe to engage in meaningful discourse about public spaces.   • Concrete Jungle’s Tiger Apple Pick: 09/09/2017 – Join Concrete Jungle to glean from the Stack Orchard in Tiger, GA.  The property is nestled in the mountains with acres of apple trees and a beautiful vineyard. Come glean apples to donate to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and stick around to hike, swim or go to one of the fun fall festivals happening in N.   • Park Pride’s 9/11 National Day of Service: Bring Your Dog to Work[day]!: 09/09/2017 –  Ever wanted to volunteer alongside your dog? Then load up your pooch and come on out to the South Bend Park Dog Park to help with a variety of projects to recognize the 9/11 National Day of Service.   • RAGTRADE Atlanta: application due 09/15/2017 – RAGTRADE Atlanta is taking applications for volunteers to help with the RAGTRADE ATLANTA Fashion event in October 2017.   • Freemont Foundation’s Represent Yourself 5K Run/Walk: 09/16/2017 – The race will take place at Grant Park. Proceeds benefit scholarships for high school, undergraduate and graduate students nationwide studying the sciences and to provide free ACT and SAT preparation to high school students.   • Yellow River Trash Bash 2017: 09/16/2017 – Join the fun and support a partnership with the Yellow River Water Trail, Gwinnett County Parks & Rec, Gwinnett County Dept of Water Resources and Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful for this Rivers Alive event. Volunteers will collect trash around Yellow River Park in Gwinnett, adjoining roads, and several nearby bridge crossings of the Yellow River.   • Trees Atlanta & King of Pops Canopy Cooler: 09/22/2017 – This year’s Atlanta Canopy Conference, Giving Voice to Tree Protection, will focus on effective tree protection ordinances and policies, organizations and people who advocate for trees, and practical strategies and tactics to better conserve Atlanta’s canopy cover. Volunteers are needed to help check in guests, run payments, direct parking, and promote Trees Atlanta’s mission while enjoying the art, live music, and good times at the Cooler!   • Youth United 2017 Kickoff Project: 09/23/2017 – Youth United – United Way’s student service corps – will be kicking off its second year with a pop-up project. Last year at their launch, they made 250 snack packs for kids in Atlanta. This year, they’re doubling the efforts with a goal of 500. They need all the help we can get, so come out and join the fun!   • Swim Across America – Atlanta Open Water Swim: 09/23/2017 – This is an open water swim at Lake Lanier, organized to “Make Waves to Fight Cancer.”Proceeds from the 2017 swims support pediatric oncology and leukemia research at the Swim Across America Lab, located at Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta: Volunteer!
  • GWTW Girls in Aviation Day: 09/23/2017 – Girls in Aviation Day (GIAD) will be held at the Delta Flight Museum from 12:00am-4:00pm and hosted by the Atlanta Gone with the Wind Chapter of Women in Aviation.   • Wingfoot XC Classic: 09/23/2017 – The third annual Wingfoot XC Classic will feature One Mile, 3K and 5K races on grass, dirt and gravel. The course will be a unique single loop with traditional European cross country elements such as hay bales or logs.   • Sunday Soul To-Go: 09/24/2017- This unique activation gathers volunteers to prepare and deliver hot to-go meals for senior citizens living in assisted living facilities and to those experiencing homelessness throughout the city of Atlanta. Volunteers will also spread some soulful love by sending “soul note” words of love and encouragement to those that will be served.   • Westside Volunteer Corps September Day of Service: 09/29/2017 –  Join Westside Volunteer Corps on September 29th as they partner with the English Avenue and Ashview Heights Neighborhood Associations. These two historically significant neighborhoods have identified key beautification projects that will clear debris from recent hurricanes and remove trash and unwanted items block by block. Get ready to roll up your sleeves and volunteer your time as Westside residents and supporters serve together: Volunteer! 
  • Atlanta United Watch Party: 09/30/2017 – Soccer in the Streets and Refuge Coffee is hosting an official Atlanta United watch party. They are  looking for volunteers to help with the set-up and assist with players throughout the day. Volunteers need to arrive at 4:00 pm: Volunteer! 
  • State Farm Good Neighbor Day: 09/30-10/01/2017- Join State Farm, Hands On Atlanta, and the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta as they build school supply kits, create literacy kits, and paint a mural to help benefit education in the community.   • Mercedes-Benz Stadium 5K/Walk Like MADD: 09/30/2017 – Join the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United FC, Atlanta Track Club and Mothers Against Drunk Driving for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Stadium 5K/Walk Like MADD and be a part of something special. All  participants have the opportunity to finish on the Atlanta Falcons 50-yard line inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.  100% of the proceeds go to Mothers Against Drunk Driving Georgia.   • Atlanta Women’s Build: 09/30-11/18/2017 – The Atlanta Women’s Build (AWB) is a grassroots effort led by individual women who raise funds to sponsor and construct an Atlanta Habitat for Humanity home for a working mother and her family. Over eight weeks, women volunteers work side-by-side with the homebuyer to construct the house, offering a unique opportunity to highlight the ways that Atlanta Habitat empowers women and builds stability in communities.   • PICH Bike Share Mural @ Castleberry Hill: 09/30/2017- Add a splash of color to the Castleberry Hill Arts District! Volunteers will help local artist Christopher Jones paint a mural at the Nelson Street Bridge Relay Bike Share hub, making it stand out and encouraging community members to get active and moving: Volunteer!
  • Andi’s Wish to be a Famous Singer: 09/30/2017 – Andi’s wish is to be a famous singer, and YOU can be a part of the experience.  Although her medical condition makes singing more challenging, she never lets it stop her from pursuing her dreams. Make-A-Wish Georgia and the Chick-fil-A Foundation have teamed up to make Andi’s wish come true. Join us as she makes her debut at the Buckhead Theatre: Join the Fun!
  • Shepherd Center: Shepherd Center is a private, not-for-profit hospital specializing in medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spine and chronic pain, and other neuromuscular conditions. There are a variety of opportunities for volunteers, whether you enjoy interacting with patients, performing clerical tasks or assisting with fun events: Volunteer!
  • Shepherd Center’s Junior Committee: The Junior Committee is a group of approximately 200 Atlanta young professionals dedicated to raising money and awareness for Shepherd Center.  Junior Committee members join to help raise money for the Center, have fun, and meet other young professionals interested in giving back to their community: Join the fun!
  • Honor Flight Conyers: Honor Flight of Conyers is a local chapter or “Hub” of the Honor Flight Network, a non profit program created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices by flying these American heroes to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials.   • Atlanta Habitat for Humanity Young Professionals: The Young Professionals group is a self-directed, professional-led organization that works cooperatively with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity through service, advocacy, fundraising and professional and leadership development.   • Samaritan’s Purse Hurricane Harvey Response Team: Samaritan’s Purse mobilizes staff and equipment and enlists thousands of volunteers to provide emergency aid to victims of tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters in the United States. They have disaster relief units, staff, and volunteers in Texas working from five locations, including two in the Houston area. Over the next weeks and months, there is a huge need for volunteers to help restore impacted areas in Texas. They need an army of volunteers—as many as 1,000 a day. Please join them: Volunteer!
